Are you concerned about the behaviour of your family member?

Don't worry - you are not alone.

Down Syndrome NSW's Behaviour Support Service focuses on:

  • helping to identify triggers and stressors to behaviour
  • helping to apply appropriate techniques to support that person
  • helping to provide inclusive solutions to ensure behaviour doesn't prevent that person from being excluded

We put the person with disability at the centre of our approach, providing specialist advice and guidance along the way.  This may include:

  • Phone calls with family members or carers to provide information and support
  • Interview with family, carers, teachers and other support staff
  • An assessment on environmental or emotional factors which could be contributing to behaviour
  • Finding techniques to best support the person according to their preferences and learning ability
  • Assisting families, carers and educators to implement plans and strategies
  • Providing capacity building and education to family, staff and other areas of support

Down Syndrome NSW is an NDIS registered service provider in the area of Behaviour Support.  We can develop a Behaviour Management Plan under your NDIS funding arrangements if required however, we are also here to offer information and support whenever you need us.
