UP! Club Autumn Camp 2025

27 Mar 2025
Our first Autumn Adventure took place from March 14–16, 2025, and despite the season, it felt just like summer! With temperatures soaring above 30 degrees Celsius, we had the perfect weather for an action-packed camp full of fun, laughter, and adventure.

Friday: A Chaotic Start, A Smooth Finish

The journey to camp kicked off with a few hiccups as train delays caused some participants to run late. Thankfully, DSNSW staff and camp volunteer Alison stayed back to ensure everyone got to camp safely. Once reunited, the fun began!

Jess led a discussion on our new Camp Agreement, setting the tone for a respectful and inclusive experience. We also received our brand-new UP! CLUB PASSPORTS—each participant laminated their photo and eagerly collected stamps for every day at camp. We were so proud of them that we carried them everywhere!

After dinner, we cozied up in our best pajamas with hot chocolates in hand to watch Wicked the Movie. By the end, we were all ready for a good night’s sleep, excited for the adventures ahead.

Saturday: From Archery to Disco Fever

The day started with a refreshing yoga and fitness session led by Nikki, while some took the opportunity to sleep in. Our morning ramped up with Archery Tag, where friendly competition had us dodging foam-tipped arrows and tagging teammates for fun.

With the heat rising, we hopped on a party bus to the lagoon, guided by the wonderful Corina from Sydney Academy of Sport. Life jackets on, we spent the morning kayaking and paddleboarding, soaking in the stunning scenery and tranquil waters.

After lunch and a cool-down in the air-conditioned space, we enjoyed painting, drawing, and even some basketball. Afternoon tea featured fruit, muffins, and ice blocks—just what we needed after an active day! Later, we settled in for another movie, Mufasa: The Lion King, which left us both entertained and relaxed.

But the real highlight? The Saturday Night Disco! Dressed in our best fantasy outfits, we hit the dance floor and showed off our moves. The dance circle was electric, filled with energy and creativity. Even after the party, some campers were so pumped they packed their bags early for the next day!

Sunday: Reflection, Recognition, and Farewells

We started the final morning by packing up and taking another ride on the party bus for breakfast. Afterwards, Nikki kicked off Coffee Club, while Bel joined online for a St. Patrick’s Day-themed drama play and jigs! Meanwhile, other UP! Club members reflected on their camp experience, writing in their journals and creating more arts and crafts.

Before we said our goodbyes, we held our UP! Club Camp Graduation—a heartfelt moment where each participant received an award recognizing their unique contributions at camp. Our dedicated staff and volunteers had collaborated the night before to make this moment special for everyone.

With hugs, smiles, and cheers, we wrapped up an unforgettable weekend. The memories, friendships, and adventures will stay with us until we meet again at our next camp.

Until next time, Autumn Adventurers!
